My cheating husband tried to convince everyone that my children were not mine, and DNA tests proved his claim. But later, I found out the truth, and I could never have predicted it.
I found out that my husband, Paul, was having an affair with our neighbor. When I confronted him, he admitted it and filed for divorce. But I told him he would pay a high price for alimony.
He yelled, “I’m not going to pay because I’ll have full custody of the children!” I laughed, but he smiled confidently, as if he knew something I didn’t. We started the legal process and my husband started lying through his teeth.

“My wife was always traveling during her pregnancies to come back with babies. I think she set me up and illegally used a surrogate to have my babies. But they are not hers,” he told the judge.
I couldn’t believe he would say such a crazy thing. I gave birth to my three children, but he was never there because he was always drinking with his friends. He never saw me give birth.
“Let’s do a DNA test, it will prove that these children are mine but not his!” Paul exclaimed again. The judge didn’t believe him but ordered the tests anyway. To everyone’s surprise, he was right.
My three children, whom I carried for nine months, do not have the same DNA as me. “It’s impossible,” I whispered during our meeting with the lawyers and the judge.
“She can’t keep these children because they’re mine, and she probably did something illegal to avoid being a mother again. She’s a criminal, Your Honor. You can’t give her custody,” Paul added.

My lawyer protested and said that despite the DNA results, I was still the legal mother of the children. But after reviewing the evidence, the judge ruled in my husband’s favor. “I’m sorry, Mrs. Warren. But while the investigation is ongoing, the children will remain with their father,” the judge said.
“No, it can’t be like this,” I shouted at my lawyer, Mr. Wombs.
“This isn’t over, Amanda. But you have to tell me the truth. Did you do something illegal? Did you use a surrogate and lie to your husband? Right now, the judge believes Mr. Warren because the DNA tests proved he was right,” Wombs asked.
“Yes! I swear those babies are mine. I carried them. I spent 15 hours in labor with my first son, Luca. Mason and Frankie took about 10 hours each, but all three are mine!” I declared vehemently.
“Okay, I believe you. I’ll find out what happened,” Mr. Wombs said. But I was too upset to believe him. Did Paul falsify the results? Did he pay the doctor to change them? What happened?

A few days later, Mr. Wombs called me to ask me to do some tests. “A friend of mine is a doctor and he told me about a case similar to yours. It’s rare and I don’t want to give you false hope. But has anyone ever told you about the chimera?”
“No, what is it?” I asked.
“According to my friend, it is a living being with two DNAs. In humans, this only happens when one twin fuses with the other.”
“But why didn’t the doctors notice this peculiarity when my mother was pregnant?” I asked.
“I don’t know. But we’ll consult some specialists to find out if this has happened to you,” Mr. Wombs assured me.

We went to several people, including Dr. Zack Goldman, a genetics specialist, who confirmed my case. I absorbed my twin so early in my mother’s pregnancy that her doctor didn’t notice she was carrying twins.
“You see, Your Honor, Ms. Warren’s hair and skin DNA did not match that of her three children, but the specialist took DNA from her cervical region that matched that of the children,” Wombs told the judge.
“They’re lying! This can’t be true!” Paul cried.
“Fortunately, I have evidence from previous medical journals that this has happened to other women. It’s rare, but Ms. Warren carries both her DNA and her twin’s DNA. Her children have inherited some of her DNA that is found in other parts of her body,” Wombs said.

After reviewing the files, the judge ruled in my favor. He granted the divorce and my ex-husband had to pay a large alimony and restitution for the pain he had caused me with his lies.
I researched the chimera and even approached the specialist who had helped Mr. Wombs clear my name. As fate would have it, we got married and I got pregnant. He was there when I gave birth.
What about my ex-husband? His mistress dumped him because he ran out of money. You have to be careful with karma!
What can we learn from this story?
- The truth always comes out eventually. Paul lied in court to avoid paying child support, but the truth eventually prevailed.
- Educate yourself. Even though Amanda didn’t know anything about the chimera, doing research and becoming more informed helped her win custody of her children.
