Alicia couldn’t believe what she was hearing! That morning, John had left, telling her he had to leave town for a business meeting. She didn’t want him to leave and told him she didn’t feel good about it. But he convinced her she was overreacting and that everything would be fine.
Alicia was seven months pregnant at the time. When John insisted on going to his meeting, she relented and kissed him goodbye. He had promised to return soon, but when she heard the devastating news, she couldn’t take the shock and started going into labor.

Fortunately, she quickly dialed her neighbor, Mrs. Hall, who rushed home and called 911. Alicia was immediately taken to the hospital, where she gave birth to a baby boy.

Suddenly, she woke up at 8:00 a.m. because of Edduin’s crying. She jumped up and rushed to him, where she found him with tears streaming down his cheeks like a waterfall.
“What happened, darling? Are you hungry?” she asked, beginning to rock him. This was the second time in a week that Alicia had noticed Edduin being restless and crying uncontrollably in his sleep.

“I’m worried because he seems very calm most of the time, Doctor, but he also seems tired in the morning. Why is that?” Alicia asked worriedly.
“Don’t worry, Mrs. Silvers. Babies seem to have a phase,” the doctor explained. “Maybe Edduin is going through the same phase.”
“But how long will it take for him to get better? I’m really worried about him.”
“Don’t worry too much, Mrs. Silvers. There’s no specific time frame, but everything will be fine. It varies from baby to baby.”
Thinking it was just another phase, Alicia hoped Edduin would get better soon. But even after a week, there was no relief, and Edduin seemed more tired with each passing day.

One afternoon, Alicia decided to check on him after putting him to sleep and heard a strange noise coming from his room. It sounded like Edduin was giggling and that someone was in his room. At first, she thought it was just her imagination because she opened the door but found no one inside.

Alicia returned to the living room, thinking it was work-related stress, but the activity continued the next day and the day after. Every day, Edduin would wake up with a start from his deep sleep, giggling or simply looking around the room.
Thinking something was wrong, Alicia installed a Wi-Fi baby monitor inside to monitor Edduin and sat in the living room, watching the live feed.
She stared at the screen, watching it closely, and everything seemed fine for the first few minutes. However, after about ten minutes, she noticed a sudden movement in the room, and Edduin’s lip began to curl into a smile.

When Alicia opened Edduin’s door, the little dog hid behind Edduin’s crib. Edduin started to giggle, and that’s when Alicia realized what had happened.

Since so much happened after John left for his heavenly home and Edduin was born, Alicia completely forgot to close the dog door. And so the little dog came into the room, playing with Edduin all the time and refusing to let him sleep.
Alicia took pity on the poor animal after seeing him in this state and decided to adopt him. Casper, as she named him, is now Edduin’s best friend. Thanks to little Casper, Edduin doesn’t cry as much anymore, sleeps well because Alicia makes sure they don’t spend all their time together, and is a much happier baby.
