Harry is shocked when medical tests reveal that the twins he raised as his sons aren’t his. Furious, he returns home to confront his wife, only to learn a truth that will ruin their family forever.
Harry smiled as he watched his boys laugh at something at the pediatrician’s office. “Dr. Dennison.” Harry stood nervously as the doctor entered.
“Mr. Campbell. Please have a seat,” the doctor said, shaking Harry’s hand and sitting down opposite him. “I wanted to speak to you privately, Mr. Campbell. The boys can wait outside.”

Harry’s heart raced, wondering if this was bad news. Although his boys were twins, Josh suffered from severe anemia. So, Dr. Dennison had advised further tests and asked Harry to have a blood test in case a transfusion was necessary. Luckily, his other son, Andrew, was perfectly healthy.
“So, do we have a clear idea of the procedure?” Harry asked the doctor flusteredly when the boys came out.
“Calm down, Mr. Campbell,” Dr. Dennison said, leaning back in his chair. “Right now, it’s not Josh I’m most concerned about. Yes, he’s iron deficient, but we’ll start by giving him supplements, possibly intravenously. The thing is, I wanted to talk to you about something else.”
Harry breathed a sigh of relief. His son’s condition wasn’t that serious.
“Did you adopt your boys, Mr. Campbell?” the doctor asked, sending shivers down Harry’s spine. “This is a bit tricky, but your blood type is incompatible with boys.”

“But it’s not uncommon, is it? I mean, in many cases, biological parents can’t give blood to their children because they’re a mixture of two people,” Harry argued.
“Yes, sir. Some biological parents can’t donate blood,” the doctor acknowledged. “But what I mean is, you can’t be the boys’ father. Blood type isn’t the ultimate factor in determining paternity. Indeed, your twins are both blood type A. Yet, you and your wife are both blood type B.”
“What… But that’s impossible,” Harry replied.
“I’m sorry, sir. I saw these results a few days ago, so I took the liberty of running a DNA test on your samples as well. I understand this is difficult to hear, but there’s more,” the doctor said, pushing two documents toward Harry.
Harry looked at the doctor in disbelief and grabbed the documents to read them. There were many medical terms he didn’t understand, but the words “half-siblings” in the documents caught his attention.

Harry looked up at Dr. Dennison in shock. “That’s correct, Mr. Campbell. Andrew and Josh are technically your half-siblings, not your sons.”
Harry couldn’t believe it. The children he’d raised for 12 years weren’t his. In fact, they must have been his father’s, which meant Nancy had cheated on him with him. But that didn’t make sense. She was already pregnant when he introduced her to his parents.
It took Harry longer to get out of the car once they got home. Suddenly, he heard his boys shout, “Grandpa! We missed you!”
Harry clenched his fists, his eyes red. But he couldn’t burst into the house and confront his father and wife, because Josh and Andrew would be there. So he forced a smile as he entered.
“What are you doing here, Dad?” he asked firmly.

But he didn’t even wait for his father to answer. The anger he’d been pent up the entire ride made his blood boil. “Boys, I understand you’re headed to Bobby’s for game night?” he asked the twins, forcing a smile.
“Yes, Dad! Andrew, let’s go!” As the boys grabbed their controllers and left the house, Harry lost his temper.
“Did you sleep with my father, Nancy?” he asked his wife.
Nancy’s face turned pale.
“Son, listen, it’s not what you think,” his father, Robert, interrupted. But Harry wouldn’t listen.
“DNA tests don’t lie, Nancy!” He glared at his wife. “I want to know the truth!”

Nancy couldn’t look her husband in the eye. “Harry has every right to be angry,” she told herself as he recalled the fateful night 13 years ago…
Nancy enjoyed the rhythm of the music as she moved across the dance floor to the bar. As she waited for her drink, a whiff of luxurious men’s perfume tickled her nostrils.
To her left, Nancy saw a man with silver hair and a sharp jaw smile at her. “Can I buy you a drink?” he asked cheekily, which flattered the young woman. The man was twice her age, but he was attractive.
“I’m already buying something for my friends,” she almost shouted at him over the music.
“Oh, are you on a girls’ trip with your friends?” the man continued, smiling in the most charming way as he moved closer to her.
When the bartender brought her drinks, Nancy didn’t even notice. “My name is Nancy.”
“I’m Robert,” he replied.

The next moment, they found themselves kissing in the elevator, and the next morning, Nancy woke up in her bed. They ordered breakfast and chatted for a while before Robert said he had to go.
Nancy knew she would never see him again, but that was fine. Her trip to Las Vegas had been adventurous and passionate, exactly what she wanted. Little did she know that three weeks later, she would bitterly regret the experience when she discovered she was pregnant.
Nancy didn’t want to terminate her pregnancy because she feared she might have difficulty conceiving later. So she left the gynecologist’s office, unsure where to go or what to do. But she desperately wanted someone to talk to. Feeling lost and heartbroken, Nancy confided in her friend Anna.
“Don’t tell me you’re going to give birth alone! I mean, come on, is there no way to contact that guy from Vegas?”
“No,” Nancy replied.

“Hey, miss!” A male voice interrupts their serious conversation. “My name is Oliver and this is my friend Harry. We saw you were being too serious, and we thought we should come and cheer you up.”
Nancy was too nice to turn men away, and Anna found Oliver rather sexy. She went with him to the dance floor, leaving Harry and Nancy to talk alone for hours.
“Hey, Nancy, let’s go to the bathroom,” she suddenly insisted, interrupting their conversation. Nancy excused herself and joined Anna. “Sleep with him. He seems nice. Las Vegas was only three weeks ago. He’ll never know,” she told her in the bathroom.
Nancy refused at first. She didn’t want to do something so nefarious. She had a job and a degree, and she could become a single mother. But the idea of her child having a father changed Nancy’s mind, and she ended up sleeping with Harry that night.
A few months later, Harry got down on one knee and said the three magic words. Nancy said yes almost immediately, and they kissed. Everything was perfect.

“They’re going to love you,” Harry told her as they stood on her parents’ front porch a few days later. He was finally going to introduce her to his parents.
“Oh! They’ll be furious,” she said, touching her stomach, but Harry insisted it would be fine.
The door opened, accompanied by a booming voice, and Harry’s mother, Miriam, hugged him. That’s when Nancy smelled something… that intoxicating scent that got her into trouble.
“Dad, this is my fiancée,” Harry said, stepping aside to reveal… Robert. “But as you can see, there’s another surprise in the works,” Harry continued, pulling Nancy to his side as they entered the house. “We’re having twins!”
Harry’s mother, Miriam, was delighted. She hugged Nancy, careful to keep her belly in check.

“She should see your baby pictures, Harry!” Miriam said. She and Harry finally went to get the baby album, leaving Nancy and Robert alone.
“Nancy, is it…” Robert began, but she cut him off.
“These are Harry’s. I didn’t know he was your son. But these babies are his. Let’s do as they say: ‘What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.'”
Robert and Nancy decided to keep their one-night stand a secret.
In the present…
“Tell me everything, Dad!” Harry shouted. “How come our pediatrician of several years had to tell MY SONS that they are my GRANDSONS? How did this happen?”

“It happened in Vegas,” Robert replied.
“Vegas…” Harry said. “The trip you took with Anna and your friends a few weeks before you met me?”
Nancy couldn’t say a word, but nodded.
“Did you know you were already pregnant?” he asked angrily.
“Yes,” she said, lowering her head.
“You tricked me,” Harry cried.
“Son, I’m sorry,” Robert said. “Even though, in my defense, she told me they were yours.”
“You’re a monster!” Nancy yelled at him. “You knew! You can’t blame it all on me!”

They started arguing, and suddenly Harry remembered the other times when they weren’t so angry. He thought then of the boys… his boys… who had his father’s brown eyes, while Harry and Nancy both had blue eyes. He hadn’t asked himself this question earlier, but he should have.
“They’ll never know you’re their real father!” Nancy shouted to Robert, and Harry rubbed his neck, thinking seriously.
“Is Grandpa our father?” Josh asked. They all turned, horrified, towards the entrance where the twins and their friend Bobby were standing.
“Dad?” Andrew turned to Harry, who tried to smile but couldn’t. The poker face he’d kept after the meeting with Dr. Dennison wouldn’t come out, and his sons saw the truth in his eyes.
“I’m sorry,” he whispered to the twins, having no energy left for anything else.
