A woman became pregnant at the age of 53 and gave birth to premature twins. But things took a strange turn when her son-in-law arrived at the hospital and noticed the same birthmark as him on the babies’ shoulders.
When Barbara Anderson, 53, took the pregnancy test and it showed two lines, she couldn’t believe her eyes! Yes, she was expecting! The sudden weight gain and mood swings were no coincidence, but it was too late by the time Barbara realized it.
“Can you hear the heartbeat, Mrs. Anderson?” Dr. Carter asked her during his visit to the hospital.
Barbara was taken aback. “Heartbeats?”
“Yes, Mrs. Anderson. Don’t you know you’re pregnant with twins?”
Barbara froze in shock when Doctor Carter told her that.
Being a mother is one of the most beautiful experiences a woman can have, but it was a shock for Barbara, because at her age she was already a mother, and not to mention, a grandmother of two beautiful daughters.
“Can we please terminate the pregnancy, doctor?” Barbara asked worriedly. “I don’t want to be a mother again.”
The doctor gave her a disappointed look. “I’m sorry, Mrs. Anderson, but I’m afraid it’s too late. I see some inconsistencies in your report, and I think we’re going to have to hospitalize you for a while. I have a feeling you’re going to go into premature labor.”
“Please, doctor,” Barbara begged, her eyes filling with tears. “Isn’t there anything else I can do to prevent this pregnancy? I don’t think I’m prepared for this.”
“I’m sorry, Mrs. Anderson, but I’m afraid I can’t help you. As I said before, your intercourse is not normal. And if we perform the abortion, you will be putting your life in danger.”

Barbara was devastated. She was afraid of what would happen when her daughter found out she was pregnant, but more importantly, she was afraid of having to raise the children alone. However, she knew she wouldn’t be able to hide the pregnancy for long. So she called Melanie that day and told her everything.
“Oh, Mom, come on!” Melanie burst out laughing over the phone. “You shouldn’t be making jokes like that at that age!”
“I’m serious, honey!” Barbara said disappointedly. “Can you check your phone, please?”
Melanie knew her mother was seeing a man named Jackson, who was once a classmate of hers. They had gone to the same high school and college and had met on Facebook. He had even asked Barbara out, and they had gone on a few dates.
However, Melanie didn’t believe her mother was serious until she checked her message and read the ultrasound reports. They proved she was indeed pregnant and wasn’t lying.
Melanie was taken aback. “Oh my God, Mom! This is amazing! But what did you think?”
“I really didn’t want to terminate the pregnancy, darling,” Barbara said. “But I have no choice. The doctors said abortion is too risky, so I have to do it.”

Barbara had tears in her eyes when her daughter said this. “But darling, don’t you want to know…”
Before Barbara could finish, Melanie cut her off. “I don’t need to know anything else, Mom. Don’t stress about anything. Okay?”
“But what about Josh and the others? They’ll judge me for being pregnant at this age, and then those poor kids will have to face society. I’m really worried, darling.”
“Why do you care what other people think, Mom? You’re aware of how people are. They’ll talk about you today, but they won’t remember you tomorrow. As for Josh, he’s very understanding. Don’t worry, I’ll talk to him.”
“Okay, honey. Thanks,” Barbara said before hanging up. But she was still worried about what would happen if the truth came out.

Josh was lost for words at this point. He too had noticed the birthmarks, but he wasn’t the father of Barbara’s twins. “Listen, Melanie, calm down, please. It’s not what you think…”

“Are you okay? Really, Mom?” Melanie was furious. “I can’t believe you and Josh… It’s disgusting, Mom. Since when have you been seeing each other behind my back? Don’t lie, I’ve seen the birthmarks on babies’ shoulders. Josh has the same birthmark!”
“Honey, calm down, please,” Barbara said.
“How can I calm down, Mom?” Melanie said, sobbing once more. “I supported you throughout your pregnancy, Mom! I was afraid Josh wouldn’t support me through it, but he did. And I was surprised when he did that. Was he acting that way because he was the father? Also, you said you wanted to talk to me about the pregnancy when you called that day, but I cut you off. I’M DIVORCEING THIS MAN! I DON’T WANT TO SEE HIS FACE!”

Josh, who arrived after Melanie, tried to console her, but the young woman pushed him away and said she didn’t want to hear anything.
Barbara couldn’t hold back her tears when she saw her daughter in this state. She called Melanie to her side and took her hand in hers. “Josh, come here too. There’s something you both need to know…” The old woman began to tell the whole story.
It turned out that the father of Barbara’s twins was Josh’s father, Mr. Andrew Wilson. A few months ago, they all met up at Andrew’s ranch, where Barbara and Andrew got drunk and had a somewhat romantic relationship.
Barbara was terrified of admitting the truth, but even more so of her daughter losing her family. Therefore, she kept the truth to herself and never revealed it.
“Josh’s dad also has the same birthmark, honey,” Barbara added. “If you don’t believe me, ask Josh.”
Melanie looked at Josh, who nodded. “She’s right, Mel. My dad and grandpa have the same birthmark.”

I should have given you a chance to explain. But Mom,” she said, turning to Barbara. “I think you should talk to Mr. Wilson about this.”
“Yes, Mrs. Anderson,” Josh added. “Dad has the right to know what happened. Besides, the children are his responsibility too. I think you should talk to him about it.”
Barbara wasn’t sure, but she called Andrew and told him everything. He was surprised by the news, but decided to take responsibility for the children. A few hours after the call, he visited Barbara in the hospital with a bouquet and proposed to her on one knee in the most romantic way.
The woman blushed and nodded yes. A few months later, the two were married in a church in an intimate family ceremony, and they are now one big, happy family.
